I've just completed the Fall 2019 Genesis program and what an amazing journey it was!
Before starting the program, I remember my husband telling me about the program and I decided to look into it. I was never quite ready, made excuses and I had also left social media so was not sure I could fully commit. I thought about it for a while, I knew I was unhappy and really needed to get out of this rut. I had gained a lot of weight and my clothes were no longer fitting. I felt blah and hid behind my kids for photos, lol.
Enough was enough and this past August I decided that I was finally ready to make a change. Determined and committed to make improvements to my lifestyle with regards to nutrition with the hope that I would loose weight in the process, not fully thinking it would work but extremely hopeful.
The process was amazing! I had to get back on Facebook and re-learn the system plus understand what the commitment would entail. I must say that for someone that was not on social media, it became very easy and totally doable. I became part of a small family all with the same goal in mind. The key is to be present on a daily basis with the focus on the goal, which is not just losing the weight but also the non-weight goals.
Also the fact that it was all on-line made it so easy for a mom of three kids with a stressful full time job. I was able to track and be on-line at times when it was convenient for me, even with my frequent travelling for work, I could be anywhere and still be able to post and be present. The fact that I didn't even need to work out as part of this program also made it extremely convenient. I loved being able to focus on just the nutrition.
For me, through the process I learned so much about how to change my diet so that I would eat nutrient dense food to keep me full, I learned to love salads (I now eat spinach straight up : )), learned about different types of protein sources and how to use them to stay fuller, staying within my caloric intakes and how to track and monitor this. I became a mindful eater and continue to be this way now. I used to eat huge portions of all my "favourite" foods not realizing the amount of calories I was consuming. I now still eat my favourite food but just in reasonable portions. Plus I can still enjoy cookies which is my guilty pleasure : ) It is not a diet at all!
I was amazed by how easy the process was and in committing and trusting the process, changes started happening, slowly but surely and by the end I lost 16 pounds and dropped two dress sizes!! Not only this but I am now much happier, confident and looking forward to continuing this way of eating and living.
Our coach Gil was amazing, he was there with us on a daily basis encouraging us and guiding us through this journey. I am really impressed by his program and how extremely organized and informative it was. The tools he provided us with will stay with us even after the program and that is important too keep us going. I would truly recommend this program to anyone who is committed and ready to make a positive change in their lifestyle with regards to nutrition and mindful eating. It is truly life changing and completely doable!! If I can do this, anyone can 🌺
