In the past year, I’ve come to realize that what’s most important in making nutrition and fitness a lifestyle, especially when you are a working mom who’s also going to school, is PLANNING. Using the tools I learned from the program along with planning takes a great deal of stress out of my day, allows me to have occasional treats and to budget for a night out with friends.
Moreover, my experience with Gil Mesina's coaching and support has been nothing but *life altering*. I have previously struggled with eating disorders and body image, and in my 30s, with the negative effects of sedentary life. From finally getting control over my blood sugar spikes and drops, to understanding that I wasn't feeding my body properly, I feel that the last few months have been eye-opening for me.
Gil was present for me on a daily basis, whenever I had questions or felt discouraged; he also offered us resources and ideas to discuss, celebrated all our little victories, while downplaying the impact of our "fail" moments. He's truly a COACH in every sense of the word. I have gained an understanding of how my body reacts to certain foods, how MUCH food I actually need to function, and which exercises have the most impact on my physiology. I can even allow myself some cheating and know that I can get back on track all by myself. In the end, what we gained was AUTONOMY and confidence in ourselves.
The adventure isn't over; I'm just getting started, all of this thanks to Gil.
